After the symposium, we would like to show you more of Brno. We will organize different symposium trips from which anyone can choose according to their preferences. To fit various eeds of our attendees, there will be a half-day guided tour through the historical city center of Brno and a day-trip to Prague.

1/ Prague – City tour and a cruise around Prague’s Venice – UNESCO

One day tour, lunch included

Take in Prague’s highlights, including Prague Castle with the changing of the guards, Charles Bridge, and the Jewish Town. Enjoy a three-course Czech cuisine lunch and a cruise around Prague’s Venice. Spend a day in Prague and experience the centuries-old beauty of the Czech capital by bus, on foot, and by boat.

Journey back in time on a visit to 9th-century Prague Castle, one of the largest castles in the world. On your way to the castle, you’ll see sites such as the National Theater, the Rudolfinum, Powder Gate, Wenceslas Square, and the Dancing House.

At Prague Castle you’ll be treated to a 3-course meal with 1 drink. After lunch, your tour continues to lovely Valdstejn Garden, before you head down the hill to see Lesser Town, Kampa Island, and the John Lennon Wall.

As you continue on your full-day tour, you’ll cross over the Vltava River on the historic Charles Bridge. Take in the incredible history and culture of Prague as you travel in style and enjoy small refreshments on a Vltava River cruise. After the cruise you’ll walk by Jan Palach Square, and along Parizska Avenue to Prague’s Jewish Town, where your guide will share their local knowledge.

Continue to the city’s Old Town Square to see the world-famous Astronomical Clock, dating back to the 15th century. Return to Brno by bus optional.

2/ Brno

There will be a half-day guided tour through the historical city center of Brno. 

A/ Guided tour through Brno
Visit the Old Town Hall with its famous portal, legendary crocodile, and fabled wheel. Few steps from Old Town hall there is a Vegetable Market, where you can buy fresh vegetable and fruits from czech farmers and look around and see Baroque fountain Parnas, The Holy Trinity Column, Theatre Reduta, Statue of W. A. Mozart or Dietrichstein Palace. Tour continues to Capuchin Square with its Capuchin Burial Vault and Capuchin Crypt. Make beautiful pictures of St. Peter and Paul Cathedral and walk to nearby Denis Gardens with beautiful view of Špilberk Castle, Old Brno and the Church of Jan Amos Comenius (Red Church). The famous Freedom Square will show you Kleins’ Palace, House of Lords of Lipá, Plague Pillar, Moravian Bank building and Brno´s famous clock sculpture. See also St. James´ church and last but not the least Moravian Square with Kleins’ Palace, House of Lords of Lipá, Plague Pillar, Moravian Bank building, clock sculpture.

Additionally, visit Castle Špilberk and its bust of Raduit de Souches, enjoy great courtyards, check all viewing points and don´t forget to make a picture of St Peter and Paul Cathedral.

B/ Vila Stiassni
Is a stunning functionalist villa with a three-hectare garden, which was designed by the architect Ernst Wiesner for the family of Alfred Stiassni, a Jewish textile manufacturer. It stands out primarily for its bold, almost castle-like interiors. This villa ranks among the most significant residential buildings built in the interwar period. After World War II, during which it was a residence of the Gestapo, the villa served as a venue for major historic events, used by the government for special occasions. Famous guests include Czech president Edvard Beneš, Indonesian president Sukarno, Egyptian president Nasser, and Cuban president Fidel Castro.

The bus will take us from the Faculty of Social Studies of Masaryk University to Vila Stassini. The tour starts at 3 pm and it will last around 1 hour. You can explore extensive gardens around the Vila Stassini on your own for free. After the tour expected time of departure is 5 pm.
